<p> Merryfield Engineering Group has developed it's core business in the manufacturing,installation
and maintenance of engineering designed products.<br>
Our comprehensive design and manufacturing facility has enabled a turnkey operation
of excellence to be offered to our clients and permits them to take advantage
of this efficient and increasingly popular method of engineering manufacturing

<p> Designed and manufactured in the rational heartland of carpet technology here
in Halifax, West Yorkshire, we put to use our years of expertise to provide
the industry with a modern solution to carpet processing.<br>

cutting machine with the added advantage of in-house styling to suit the individual
customers requirements.<br>
• Incorporated into our new range of cutting machines is our unique Gnat
and Scorpion Safety Cross Cut System which removes all the hazards associated
with the cutting of roll products. <br>
• Easy roll handling with Gnat’s pneumatic tilt load cradles all

This specially adapted machine is designed to cross cut up to 2 metre materials
of either carpet or vinyl variants. Incorporated into its all steel welded construction
are many features to make the cutting of such rolls a simple and safe operation.
Our ‘no frills’ design is intended for easy operation and maintenance
and offers simple operation with minimum staffing. </p>

<h2>SAFETY FEATURES</h2>
<p> Our Gnat is fully protected on all sides by a fully interlocked and latch
off stop system. Material cutting is initiated via a dual hand operated control
designed to prevent the ingress of operators fingers within the material clamp
n’ cut rail. At no time is there a un-guarded blade in sight. Additional
steel safety barriers can be supplied to suit the individual application</p>
<h2> CUTTING OPERATION</h2>
<p> Incorporated into the Gnats design is our unique cross-cut adapted to cut
most of to-days modern roll derivatives. The Gnat Cutter is a combined safety
cross-cut with pneumatic material holding clamp but still retains the simplicity
of a traditional Stanley Knife. A fully automatic, speed adjustable traverse
knife head cuts in both directions for minimal cutting times and incorporates
a simple blade replacement shoe for low cost blade changes. Blade cutting life
is dependant on the type of material being cut.</p>
<h2> FORMAT </h2>
<p>Individually designed to the customers specification, The Gnat incorporates
a parent roll cradle for forward and reverse operation to enable the operator
to remove outer protective wrapping under power. From a centrally located operation
station the prepared roll can be fed under the cutter rail towards the belt
roll up cradle. Measurement of the roll is carried out via the Trumeter electronic
metric measure encoder to a display on the operation station. Preset or single
measurements are possible and the Gnat will roll up a pre-determined cut length.
A roll wrapping system is incorporated as one of the Gnat’s many features.</p>
<h1> Case Study Two - Turnkey Operations</h1>
<p> (Customer confidentiality prevents us divulging our clients name and location).<br>
Our most recent production concept contracted Merryfield to design and manufacture
on behalf of one of the UK's leading pvc manufacturer here in the North of England
a production line to increase their efficiency in the manufacture of a new pvc
derived product.<br>
This revolutionary product would enable our client to compete for world wide
contracts.<br>
Machine design and manufacture for this special application was the sole responsibility
of the Merryfield Group's Technical Department who not only produced machines
of intricate design but were also able through the group format to provide full
steel fabrication systems, engineering machining, pneumatic, electronic and
electrical services and a full installation package.<br>
Indeed a very successful Turnkey Engineering Operational Contract. From their
new empty factory shell to full production was solely designed and manufactured
in-house by Merryfield Engineering Group.<br>
